KEEP OPENING the SCUBA DIVING DOORS – MOVE FORWARD
Well you are officially a Certified Diver. You got through the book work, got the pool skills down pat, and now you have completed the open water dives, skills, and group dive tour. Ed’s Scuba can help with your future training and diving experiences.
Now what? Do I dive on holidays only? Will I remember everything that allows me to dive safely and comfortably? How do I get comfortable with skills or practices I didn’t quite feel comfortable with?
First – Keep SCUBA DIVING.
Start with simple dives at shallow depths that don’t involve complex tasks or environments. You need to be challenged, but take control and ease into it. Get comfortable with the equipment and basic tasks. Stop in shallow water at the end of each dive and practice a skill such as mask removal and replacement, regulator recovery, and clearing. Emergency skills should be second nature and not cause added stress.
How do we keep the SCUBA DIVING experience alive?
Work with an instructor to expand your knowledge and experiences through Ed’s Scuba and more training. This can be as simple as Adventure Dives or certifications such as the Advanced Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Diver, and more. Moving beyond the Open Water Diver with more training allows you to gain experience and confidence, knowing an instructor can help you through the process safely and enjoyably. Ed’s Scuba has PADI courses, let us know.
A great starting point is the Advanced Open Water Diver Certification.
This certification provides a more in-depth experience with the mandatory Navigation and Deep dives and three more. The Night dive is typically chosen as it opens up a whole new dive experience and is usually the dive that provides the most pleasurable experience. The main advantage of completing the Advanced Open Water Certification is that it allows you to experience more of the underwater world. The ability to dive at night or to a maximum of 100 feet and having more confidence and skill at navigating the dive so as not to waste valuable bottom time.
The rest of your SCUBA DIVING training is a bonus.
From the Advanced Open Water, there are several avenues to pursue, such as the Rescue Diver Course, various Specialties such as the Enriched Air Diver certification, building on the Advanced Course Core Dives like the Night Dive to achieve your Night Diver Specialty, Deep Diver Specialty or your Master Scuba Diver Rating. Then there is the professional route, starting with your Divemaster certification to the Instructor level.
Whatever path you choose, remember to keep diving. Let us know if you have any questions or want to discuss how you can improve your skills and confidence as a diver.
Don’t forget about the Prince Albert Scuba Club (PASC) and what they offer when it comes to getting out for a dive and more.
